Letter of the Year 2026

Entitled “Way, Truth, and Life,” the President of the Teresian Association (TA), Gregoria Ruiz Alegarbes, writes the 2026 Letter addressed to all members, collaborators, friends, and people who share the charism of Saint Pedro Poveda.

The Letter invites to reflect on the journey we have made since the Jubilee Year and to renew our commitment to the mission guidelines of the XIX General Assembly. Grateful for the experience of communion we have enjoyed during the year that has just ended, the Director of the Institution encourages us to keep hope and faith alive in the midst of global and local challenges.

Looking back on the past year, she recalls Pope Francis, “the people's Pope”: “His exhortations remain in our consciousness long after they were spoken,” and the continuous calls for peace from his successor, Leo XIV.

The text highlights the call to be Christians in today's world “in the sandals of the first believers”; the need to proclaim the Gospel in a plural society in which the thirst for God is growing; and the accompaniment of young people in their search for meaning and transcendence. It cites the new Framework for Youth Ministry of the TA, which seeks to offer spaces for welcome, listening, and spiritual growth, responding to their longings for community, values, and belonging.

He dedicates part of the Letter to the centrality of Christ as the foundation of the life of the members of the SAssociation and the importance of prayer and apiritual life in sustaining the mission.

Father Poveda has repeatedly underscored the need for interior life, a life that seeks God in everything. His spiritual writings are rife with considerations and meditations on prayer addressed to the Teresian Association, with the underpinning theme: “always pray,” encouraging us to be persons of prayer, notes Gregoria Ruiz.

Inspired by the example of Mary and the teachings of Pedro Poveda, Gregoria Ruiz invites us to live our faith with joy and boldness, strengthening our hope in a world that needs peace, justice, and fraternity.

This year, holding close to our hearts the invitation to “recreate our communities” and the call to accompany young people in their search for God, for meaning and purpose, let us repeat this supplication:

Jesus, you are the Way; guide us in your Truth and be our Life.
