Holy Thursday 2025

Gregoria Ruiz, President of the Teresian Association, addresses her Message for this feast in the context of the celebration of the Jubilee Year.

The Jubilee Year invites us to be pilgrims of Hope. We are invited not to remain self-absorbed, but to leave ourselves behind and keep walking towards God and our brothers and sisters.

Jesus’ earthly life was a walking towards God and he was not self-absorbed. The unfolding of his last meal with his disciples is a testament to this.

Our vocation to the Teresian Association calls us to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the center of our lives and, like the first followers of Jesus, we take part in the Eucharist, “For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” For Christ in the Eucharist is our source of hope.

The spiritual dimension of the Jubilee calls for conversion.  Every one of us needs a change of heart. Is my relationship with Christ in the Eucharist an area that may call for a change of heart? Could I truly say that Jesus Christ is the center of my life?
