Advent Message 2024

The members of the Teresian Association of Amman, Bethlehem and Jerusalem write this year's message for the season of Advent.

“Bethlehem –they write– is where the Prince of Peace was born; yet “He came… but his own did not receive Him.” (John 1:11). Bethlehem is also the face of division and conflict, which poses a challenge and a commitment before us to help build and heal, as well as work for unity and reconciliation.”

It is a message of peace and hope even in the midst of conflict and violence. We quote some of his prayers for peace.

“We ask God for the strength to be instruments of peace, especially where pain is close at hand, and we invite you to join us in prayer for healing across our world.”

“We pray for a peace that goes beyond mere words. Peace is a challenge and a commitment, rooted in a life of prayer; it invites us to reconcile and to rebuild, even in the midst of profound loss.”.

“Guide the leaders of the world and give them wisdom to destroy the wall of enmity generated by greed and power and work toward the dignity of each person and the promotion of the common good.”
